Frequently asked question

What is Muscle Activation Techniques?

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a system designed to evaluate and treat muscular imbalances that lead to tightness, soreness, loss of range of motion, and reduce muscular performance. Muscle Activation Techniques aims to address the root of the problem, not just the symptom. Through a series of rang of motion testing and addressing muscular inhibition, we can increase range of motion and muscular function that lead to pain, muscle and joint stiffness, skeletal instability, and muscular imbalances, restoring optimal performance to the muscular system, which facilitates healing for the body to be at its best.

How can muscle activation help me?

Muscle activation can help improve muscle imbalances, prevent injuries, and enhance athletic performance and overall mobility.

Is muscle activation suitable for everyone?

Yes, Muscle Activation Techniques is a non-invasive technique that can benefit people of all ages and fitness levels, including athletes, individuals recovering from injuries, those looking to improve their overall muscle function, and any one looking to feel stronger, move better, recover faster, and perform better in every area of life.

What Makes Muscle Activation Techniques unique?

Developed by Greg Roskhof, MAT™ is designed to focus on restoring balance and efficiency to the muscular system. We work with each client as an individual, addressing the bodies specific needs to help make improvements in muscular contraction and range of motion.

Who can benefit from Muscle Activation Techniques?

Athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and individuals looking to enhance muscle function and performance can benefit from Muscle Activation Techniques. MAT™ addresses the root of the problem, not just the symptom. Through a series of range of motion testing and addressing muscular inhibition, we are able to increasing range of motion and muscular function that lead to pain, muscular and joint stiffness, skeletal instability, and muscular imbalances for optimized performance and healing.

What should I expect on my first session?

Your first session will likely include discussing your medical history, your goals, current body complaints, ailments, and more. We will perform a series of initial range of motion assessments that will aim to give a baseline view to address your specific muscular limitations. This process gives a clearer path forward on where to start for your unique needs.

Throughout your MAT session, we work toward improving your muscular contractile efficiency one muscle at a time. With each muscle test and corresponding activation technique, MAT helps you build a higher tolerance level for your neuromuscular system and in turn increase your stress threshold as a whole.

What should I wear?

Athletic clothing is usually recommended, but anything that is comfortable and doesn’t prevent movement is acceptable.
